The TenZ Magnetic Switches

The biggest difference between the TenZ version and the normal Wooting 80HE is the custom TenZ switches.

These switches are based on Wooting’s Lekker Hall Effect technology, but tuned specifically for TenZ’s preferences.

TenZ Switch Characteristics

Because these switches use Hall Effect sensors, they do not rely on metal contact points like traditional mechanical switches.

Instead, the keyboard measures the exact position of the key using magnetic sensors.

Rapid Trigger and Adjustable Actuation

FR4 is a fiberglass composite material commonly used in circuit boards.

Compared to aluminum or polycarbonate plates, FR4 tends to be:

The TenZ Case Design

The TenZ edition uses a special black plastic case with frosted accents designed to show off RGB lighting.

The concept is interesting.

The execution is a little mixed.

The frosted sections allow some RGB to shine through, but the brightness simply isn’t strong enough to really create the glowing effect the case design suggests.

Compared to Wooting’s Ghost Case, which shows RGB much more dramatically, the TenZ case ends up looking relatively subdued.

The aesthetic is clean.

But the lighting potential feels slightly underutilized.

Keycaps

The TenZ edition ships with custom PBT keycaps designed specifically for this collaboration.

Because the legends are not translucent, the RGB lighting doesn’t shine through the keycaps.

Stabilizers and Sound

One of the few persistent complaints about Wooting keyboards remains the stabilizers.

While the TenZ edition includes a small foam mod inside the spacebar, the spacebar stabilizer can still produce some rattle.

It’s not terrible.

But at this price point, enthusiasts expect stabilizers to be perfect out of the box.

The frustrating part is that the other stabilizers on the keyboard are actually very good.

It’s just the spacebar that occasionally reminds you it could be better.

Movement feels instantaneous.

Directional strafing feels tighter.

And once you get used to the sensitivity, it’s very difficult to go back to traditional mechanical switches.
