There are some keycap sets that exist mostly to be looked at. You install them, admire them for a few minutes, maybe throw on some RGB, and then within an hour you start realizing the tradeoff. The sound gets thinner. The feel gets cheaper. The board stops feeling like a serious build and starts feeling like decoration.
That was the thing I kept expecting from these.
The XVX Forged Carbon-Look Cherry Profile PC Keycap Set in the Clear Ice variant looked so good in photos that I assumed there had to be a catch once they were actually on the board. Clear keycaps usually ask you to give something up. Sometimes it is sound. Sometimes it is feel. Sometimes it is both. What surprised me here is that these never really asked me to compromise. They delivered the visual payoff I wanted, but they also kept the board sounding full, feeling solid, and staying genuinely fun to use.
That is why these have become my favorite see-through keycaps I have ever used.
First impressions: these actually look special

The Clear Ice version has a look that immediately stands out in person. They are transparent, obviously, but they are not plain or flat. There is texture and depth inside them that gives the whole set this frozen, almost crystalline look. In regular daylight they already look clean and premium, but once lighting hits them, they start doing exactly what you want a clear keycap set to do.
The RGB through these is amazing.

Not in a cheap, overdone way either. It is not just light blasting through plastic. The lighting diffuses through the caps in a way that makes the board glow with a lot more texture and atmosphere. The legends stay usable, the board looks alive, and the whole setup feels elevated instead of flashy for the sake of being flashy.

That alone would have made them a cool set to own. What caught me off guard is that after the visual novelty wore off, I still wanted to keep using them.
The surprise is the sound

This is where most clear keycaps lose me.
I tend to expect a thinner, sharper sound from transparent sets. Even the ones that look great often pull the whole board away from that deeper, more satisfying profile I usually want. Once these were installed and I spent time actually typing on them, I kept coming back to the same thought: these sound far more substantial than they have any right to.
They have insane thocky qualities.
That is the part I keep circling back to because it is so unusual for a clear set. The sound is not hollow. It is not brittle. It is not trying to coast on looks while ignoring the actual typing experience. These bring a dense, planted, satisfying tone that feels much closer to the kind of confidence I usually associate with double-shot PBT. I am not saying they magically become PBT, because material is material, but this is the closest I have used to a clear keycap set that still carries that solid, premium character.
That makes a huge difference once the excitement of a new build settles in. It is easy to love something for a day because it looks cool. It is harder to keep loving it after hours of typing, gaming, editing, and actually living with the board. These held up.
They do not just look good. They feel good.

There is a lightness to them that works in their favor. They do not make the board feel weighed down, and they stay agile under the fingers in a way that feels especially good for gaming. Quick movements feel clean and immediate. The board feels fast without losing its sense of control.
That same lightweight quality also helps with typing, especially over longer sessions. These do not fight you. They do not feel awkward or overly sharp. In Cherry profile, they settle into that familiar shape that is easy to move across, and the caps themselves feel stable and reliable rather than delicate.
That combination is where this set really wins. The look is eye-catching, but the actual use experience never feels like an afterthought. They are great for gaming, they are great for typing, and the RGB payoff does not come at the expense of sound quality. That is a much harder balance to strike than it seems.
The board this created for me feels like endgame

This is where the whole thing turned from a nice keycap set into one of those builds that actually feels memorable.
I paired the XVX Clear Ice caps with my Awekeys Viking silver keycaps and the brushed silver zinc case from Wooting, and the result came together in a way that feels almost unfair. The XVX caps bring this cold, glowing, glassy energy. The Awekeys Viking accents bring weight, metal, and that old forged relic feel. Then the silver Wooting case frames all of it with this clean brushed finish that makes the whole keyboard feel like one complete idea instead of a pile of nice parts.
That combination is where the personality of the build really started to show up.
The clear ice look keeps everything bright, luminous, and alive. The Viking silver accents ground it with something heavier and older. It ends up feeling like this strange meeting point between frost, metal, and fantasy. Not overdesigned. Not messy. Just very deliberate, very textured, and very satisfying to look at from every angle.
It is one of those builds where you keep glancing back at the board while working because it genuinely looks that good.
Why these stand out from other clear keycaps

A lot of clear keycaps get attention because they photograph well. That is easy. The hard part is making a set that still respects the board underneath it. If the sound collapses, if the feel gets flimsy, or if the whole typing experience starts feeling like a compromise, the aesthetic win does not last very long.
That is what XVX got right here.
These caps still let RGB shine through beautifully. They still have that icy visual character that makes them instantly appealing. But they also keep the board feeling serious. The sound stays rich. The typing stays satisfying. The gaming experience stays quick and responsive. Instead of turning the keyboard into a showpiece you tolerate, they make it into something that is both beautiful and genuinely enjoyable to use every day.
That is why I rate them so highly. They are not just impressive for a clear set. They are impressive as keycaps, full stop.
Final thoughts

The XVX Forged Carbon-Look Cherry Profile PC Keycap Set in the Clear Ice variant is easily the best see-through keycap set I have used.
They look incredible, especially once RGB starts moving through them. They feel lightweight in a way that helps both gaming and typing. Most importantly, they sound far better than clear keycaps usually do. There is real body here. Real depth. Real solidity. They get closer to that satisfying double-shot PBT kind of confidence than any clear set I have personally tried, and they do it without losing the entire reason you buy a clear set in the first place.
Paired with Awekeys Viking silver accents and a brushed silver zinc Wooting case, this build ended up feeling like pure endgame. Ice, metal, glow, texture, and a sound profile that actually backs up the look. That is not something I get to say often with transparent keycaps.
If you have been chasing a clear set that does more than just look pretty, this is the one that finally made sense to me.
