Iqunix EZ80 Review: The Fastest Hall Effect Keyboard That Sounds Like a Logitech?

Welcome to the keyboard paradox I didn’t see coming.

The Iqunix EZ80 is one of the most hyped Hall Effect keyboards of the year—and it lives up to a lot of that hype. It’s built like a tank, features lightning-fast rapid trigger technology, and looks like a mini spaceship docked on your desk. But it also sounds… hollow. Not bad, not cheap, just… hollow. Let’s dive into this absolute unit of a keyboard, where performance is peak, but sound might leave you scratching your head.

Build Quality: The Aluminum Brick That Stays Put

First off, this thing is heavy. Like, “you could defend yourself in a zombie apocalypse” heavy. Iqunix didn’t skimp on materials—the EZ80 features a full aluminum body with an aluminum plate and built-in adjustable metal feet that actually feel good. There’s texture on the rubber pads underneath, and once this thing is on your desk, it’s not moving.

Visually? A stunner. The per-key RGB, paired with those transparent caps, delivers some of the most vibrant, accurate lighting I’ve seen on a board this year. I mean, when a white LED actually looks white, you know someone paid attention.

Performance: Hall Effect on Steroids

Let’s talk speed. The EZ80 is built for esports. You get:

  • Rapid trigger at 0.005mm (yes, you read that right)
  • 8K polling rate
  • SOCD cleaning
  • Per-key actuation adjustment

It’s absurd, in a good way.

And the Magnetic X switches? Surprisingly stable. They’re smooth, responsive, and make for an amazing gaming experience. Even casual use like typing or editing videos felt fluid. I used this board for 3 weeks straight, and despite testing tons of others, it kept its place on my desk longer than most.

The kicker? Adjustable actuation lets you work and play. I set some keys heavier to avoid accidental presses while typing (thank you, finger drag), and lighter actuation for WASD when gaming. It became a productivity/gaming hybrid beast.

The Elephant in the Room: That Sound…

Here’s where it gets complicated.

The EZ80 sounds… hollow. Not in a “cheap plastic” way, but more like a resonant chamber of aluminum echo. I tried swapping the keycaps, switches, even my beloved Geon Raws. Didn’t fix it. There’s just something about the internals or that aluminum plate that gives it a Logitech-ish, slightly Razory vibe.

If you’re chasing creamy, thocky acoustics, this ain’t it.

Still, I never once found it unpleasant. Just… surprising. It didn’t stop me from enjoying the keyboard one bit. But for you sound-profile purists? Just know going in, it’s not a Wooting in that department. More Logitech.

Software – Powerful but Problematic

The software gets a solid B+ from me. Here’s why:

✅ The Good:

  • Per-key actuation settings
  • Rapid trigger toggle
  • Pro-gamer SOCD presets
  • Full key remapping & layer customization
  • RGB that’s actually good

❌ The Bad:

  • You only get one custom profile
  • Firmware updates wipe all settings
  • Cannot edit built-in profiles (Office & Esports)

The fact that updating firmware nukes your RGB and keymaps is a huge miss in 2025. I’ve heard beta software might fix this, but I’m reviewing the current product, not the promise of one. That said, it’s intuitive and looks great—just needs more flexibility.

Switches – X-Magnetic vs Jade Pro

You can order the EZ80 with:

  • X-Magnetic switches (smooth, lighter, gaming-focused)
  • Jade Pro switches (heavier, more tactile)

Personally? I stuck with the X-Magnetics. They felt better suited to the board’s low-latency, esports-forward nature. The Jades are great for heavier typists, but I preferred the speed and stability of the Magnetics.

Fun fact: Even when swapping in other Hall Effect switches (Geon Raws, Owl Labs, MagMags), the sound profile stayed the same—reinforcing that it’s the board’s build, not the switches, causing the hollow tone.

Final Thoughts: Worth It?

If sound is your priority: stick with Wooting.
If performance, durability, and RGB looks matter more: the EZ80 is a beast.

The Iqunix EZ80 is one of those keyboards that dares to be bold, and mostly sticks the landing. It’s fast, it’s stunning, and it does what it was built to do: perform at the highest level.

Sure, the sound isn’t creamy thock. But this keyboard doesn’t want to whisper, it wants to scream, and it does that with unapologetic confidence.

If you see it on sale for under $270? Grab it. It might just be the Wooting 80HE alternative you never knew you needed.
