What's new

Wildstar So, uhhh, I need 39 more people on standby

So no intention of hijacking your thread, but what does this mean for 2013 release? I've never been in a beta, maybe someone experienced would have some insight? I would imagine raiding would be one of the last things to test since even after launch no one will step foot in a raid for maybe 2 months minimum?

fits in with their pre x-mas launch goal. also thanks to the magic of pre made char they can test raiding be for they even finish testing the zones. in fact they are probably already testing some of the smaller raids in house.

see I saw a JG interview recently and he commented on getting established guilds in beta to really push the raids and test difficulty and he mentioned getting players who would have to play and level knowing their character would be deleted. I guess wanting them to really get the experience of leveling slowly and really knowing the class inside and out. That also worried me. As much as I want them to release when ready I almost want 2013 just selfishly so I can play it myself. lol

In a Free play situation a player can clear the level cap in an MMO in less then a week. If they are thinking of using guilds in the caliber of Elitist Jerks and their kin you can cut that time in half. Upon reaching max level the estimated time for the to clear all raids is 2-3 weeks at most. You have to understand that for some people this kind of thing is what they do. Its not just a game for them its a way of life. When given the chance they will raid 8+ hrs a day everyday until they "win"

And I wish I had the time and dedication to do just this. Sadly, real life hits and that is just impossible. So I must find a different way to "Win"

Yeah I get what you're saying, but still I think we may be surprised by how long it takes to get level cap. I remember in vanilla WoW 2 months was pretty fast, 6 months more average for first lvl 60. I get the impression from the interviews I've seen that Wildstar will be closer to that than the 3 days some people did in GW2. We'll see though, as long as like they have said, the content is varied enough and fun during the leveling process I don't care if it takes 2-3 months.

I doubt world first level cap will take more than say 16hrs. Those super elite guilds who push content will be raiding in the first week I'm sure. That type of thing is why Carbine is so focused on both the leveling game and the elder game equally.

Speaking of that I remember for GW2 launch watching a group of Team Legacy do a 22 hour marathon opening day. I personally am even considering playing an Explorer as my first character just to get out in the world and really try to enjoy it all the first run through even though I'm probably a bit more of a Soldier by nature. Then maybe by my 2nd or 3rd alt just blaze through the levels.
