Mill (shorter is better they say),
Thanks for the link, its the first Katy Perry song I've ever listened to wholly, and it wasn't bad at all. I'll have to try some more.

Topic,
Wow! Thanks for introducing me to the first artist whose CD I'll buy since The Killers - Battle Born (Great Driving music in China)

Interestingly enough it seems the Britts have a lot more soul than we do hitting the charts recently.

and of coarse

EDIT: Sadly even the Japanese are kicking our ass in swing & soul these days....
このバーンドのは魂があるよ!

Plus, a whole big playlist~ (apologies for the commercials when they come up)
There are a couple other groups peppered in, but its a good list overall.

Ahh, nostalgia...

Parked in the median of I-75 just outside of Flint.
Dancing on the roof of an 88 Blazer, rocking out to these guys with my best girl by my side. (and a few other nutters too)
Sometimes high school was worth remembering.

Obviously a few other albums showed up too

Growing up in Michigan you know songs like this hit the speakers too

I know I left a boot print on the hood giving a solo performance to this one

Somehow this became our sensual slow song

I could go on and on...
Lotsa good music in the early 90's. (and you could still watch and hear about music on MTV)
Remember how cool you were if you had a Nirvana shirt with the real baby penis on it?
Explain that one to your grand kids someday...

The music went on and on, but eventually the liquor ran out and a few too many trucks slowed down, and I think one too many of them stopped to join... so we decided to leave.

I have the notion that if I ever get to contribute to a movie this scene would end with a cop telling us to "Get the hell our of my spot!"

Was looking to find some good Carmen, and the popular links had terrible audio.
Luckily I found this:

However it was missing one important song

Next up is Bolero, which thanks to a couple of grey hair crazies in the 70's became this nightmare of cutie soft flutes and harps. Which is ok, but not in extremes. (One can even catch one new grey hair conducting with a toothpick... yeah, seriously i thought this was a joke for a few minutes)
While the original has the most entrancing percussion to complete the tune, I guess its not popular anymore. Here's a slow but interesting one

When its good that constant rat-a-tat-ta of the snare drum mesmerizes you as the song builds and builds.

Up next a little Piano

Then this until I fall asleep

If I'm awake through everything then maybe something a little different to shut me eyes.

I like top 40 quite a bit too. Honestly I'd be nowhere without the radio I grew up with.
Just been a while since I had a chance to listen to the to the top 40 radio on a regular basis. (in English)
Now, music companies in Japan are real (big Mindy voice here) DICKS about their videos outside of Japan. So, I'm not sure if any of these links will work

if you want some local top 40 ;)
Get ready for a trip!

But in all seriousness, this band is catching on here and I hope they rise up the 40's

I'm also inclined to tune in longer when I hear some of this
KANA-BOON

A decent band gaining some momentum
Space Convenience Store

The last one for today that will always satisfy pop lust and crazy visuals. Kinda like Madonna and Kubrick had a baby that was raised in Shibuya.

Now, for shits and giggles,
A few international names that are odd or more and not fake:
#5 My Little Airport

#4 Da Mouth
(funny because da= big, and their name is "big mouth" -never shuts up kind. However "Da mouth" sounds so frat boy cheer)

#3 a tie between Piggy Dolls and M4M
(Honestly I could go on forever with Korean bands, they ran out of names so, so, so long ago)

#2 Super Beaver

#1 Bump Of Chicken

The top two slots get extra points because they are honestly top 40 bands.
