What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
I am a PvP'er and hope to represent the guild as such. I also enjoy PvE. If I were to break it down I would be 7/3 of 10, PvP/PvE respectively.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
Ultima Online, Shadowbane and a much lesser extent, WoW.
I played Ultima Online from a short time after Trammel was released until a short time after Age of Shadows was released. My favorite "era" of UO was pub 15 I believe it was, just before power scrolls were introduced. After quitting the "official" UO servers I found a home on a player run server called "Acropolis", which is where I met Falx. We played that server for 3 or more years until it was shut down. I played Lake Superior when I started playing UO as that is where my friends were, however I quickly found a home on Siege Perilous playing with an RP guild called "The Undead [UND]" which were allies with "Shadowclan [ORC]". Found my calling in PvP on Siege. Once moving to Acropolis I was sort of a loner type, but played with friends. Made many friendships on Acropolis, one being Falx, and a few others that are interested in GW2 and hopefully will be applying for ARX.
Shadowbane is where I got my feet wet in other MMO style games that was not UO. I played Shadowbane from the "open beta" until the servers were shut down, which was about 4-ish years. After the servers were shut down "officially" a few years later I found out that the servers were still up, just not being maintained. Played for a few months again then the servers were shut down completely. There is a group of people working on an emulator for SB, however at this point, even though SB was my second favorite game of all time behind UO, I do not have the drive to play it any more. Just like UO, it's time has past for me and I am anxious to find a new game that I can play for years as no other game has given me that.
Two "accomplishments" I am proud of from my SB career are being a part of the first Tree of Life, or guild city, placed once the servers went live. Second was being a part of one of the largest banes in the game on the Mourning server. The guild I was a part of on SB was known firstly as Morlochs Horde, then Morlochs Vengeance, then a few other names that have now slipped my mind.
As for WoW, I hate to even mention it, heh. I played a short time during the Burning Crusade era. Made a human rogue, got him up to lvl 40 and quit. Played for about 2-3 months during that time. I then picked it up again, playing it for 2 months, quitting right before Cataclysm was released. Made a Blood Elf Pally up to lvl 72 or so in that 2 months, dabbling with a Troll Death Knight on the side. The one thing I truly liked was that they added an "instance queue" which made finding groups for instances much easier, but over all, coming from a UO and SB background the whole questing and instance runs for the best gear just didn't appeal to me a great deal as I couldn't guarantee I could be on every, let's say, Tuesday at 8pm EST to do a 4 hour instance. I enjoyed the freedom of UO and SB where you did not need to have a set schedule to be able to get gear. This is why GW2 is so appealing to me. (Not to mention I am playing, or was playing, Diablo 3, the ultimate gear grind game, which is getting very old. However, at least you have the freedom to gear grind whenever you want...)
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
My only full on guild experience was in Shadowbane with Morlochs Horde/Vengeance. I love being a part of something more then just myself with goals higher then mine own. As I stated, being a part of the first guild city to be planted in SB filled me with a lot of joy and pride.
How did you hear about the Guild?
Through Falx. He sent me your 2 hour podcast/video on youtube for first time GW2 players and I enjoyed it. After talking with him about things stated in the video he mentioned he was a part of your guild and would like me and some of our other friends from the UO days to join, so here I am.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
A ruthless PvP'er but kind at heart. I am the first one to help anyone with anything within my power.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Yes.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
First of all, I am an open book type. Ask me anything and you will get a truthful answer.
I am currently living in FL but in 2 weeks time (on my birthday no less, August 12th) I am moving back to PA. I will be set and ready for the 25th for early access. I am going from the sweet FiOS to crappy Comcast cable internet, sadly. One day I hope to start a Youtube channel and a Livestream, but other things in life must come first. I plan on taking some college courses when I return to PA in the Engineering field. So between work, school and gaming I do not think I will have the time to put into those extra things. Gaming is my down time, the thing I do to unwind, as many people do, but perhaps one day I will be able to dabble into youtube and streaming.
I have not yet pre-ordered, but I will be this week. I plan on pre-ordering the 80$ pack for the extra pixels. I am not an elitist by any means but I like to be able to show off pixels sometimes. But this also means I will receive one of those guild boost items which I am more then willing to use for ARX.
That is all that I can think of for now, but please do not hesitate to ask me anything!
