What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
I feel like WvW is going to be my main focus, though that can change (and probably will since I plan to be with this game for quite some time) and am very interested in learning more about it. I am reading and watching the yewtewbs to get a better idea and handle on my class to bring the pain, Engi style to my foes. They best get out my way 'fore I bake them with my flamethrower and eat them for breakfast (hopefully...)
I will state upfront that I am a full time college student which is awesome and then not awesome. I am a little concerned about my role in the guild (whatever that may be) and my absences at times can be a bit lengthy. I guess I will sort of explain:
I am majoring in urban planning, which is a studio-centered program. This, essentially, just means I will have no life for about 4 week blocks towards the end of the semesters (December and April/May-ish, generally) however, I love gaming my face off and not sleeping enough when I am on breaks, which can last for a month or so and plan to be around heavily over the breaks and I will try to get on at least a couple times a week for an hour or so when I am in school. I just wanted to be honest about my situation right up front before you read a bunch of text and then are like "aw, damn".
I am probably more of a casual player, but that can change as well. I have just started the game and am still learning, but learning quickly!
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
MMO: World of Warcraft. Like, 7 years? Right before BC came out is when I rolled my Druid. I ended up hating that toon and gave it to my GF since she bothered me for another healer, and now the poor cow sits in the closet while the GF is healing things with her priest. I totally got her into playing WoW by telling her she could "wear dresses" and "have pets". Now she's hooked, and there's no going back, which I love!
I love me some DH action in D3 and farm Inferno sometimes with a couple of my buddies who play as well.
I have played Skyrim and enjoy it. I really like Civ games and cannot freaking way for Sim City to come out! I also really enjoyed ME3, which surprised me.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I have been in a handful of guilds for an extensive period of time. I started out on Gilneas with Phoenix Guard and became very close friends with a few people. Some real-life things happened, and I wound up transferring off to Proudmoore and starting a guild (still around, the GF is GM now), Darkwind Empire (also, I was super proud of our website until I came here. So thanks for smashing all my pride.
) because my mother and I were looking for something pretty specific. We were having a hard time finding it, so decided to start our own. It has been going strong for over 2 years now and we are still raiding and having fun, but I am pretty much done with WoW.
I am currently in Hope Remains on Crystal Dessert, but found you guys while looking for some builds for my guard and engineer and couldn't help but notice your values line up really well with mine. I am especially interested since I watched your podcast about your guild.
Hope Remains is good, they are nice people, and I have no problems there. I would like there to be more stuff going on, and that's where I thought Arcanix may be a good fit. I'd like to be able to jump into WvW things when I hop on or do a dungeon once in a while or just have people to chat with and shoot the shit with, so the only real downside to my current guild is the lack of activity. If I can find a loyal, friendly and open community that is also active and I fit in, well...why not get it all, if I am able?
How did you hear about the Guild?
Via Google while searching for guard and engi builds
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I am chatty. I have had some pretty awesome life experiences and I think I am hilarious. If I am accepted, prepare for 1: more boobies 2: not offended easily 3: can make really great jokes based around "that's what she said" and other things for which my GF calls me a "twelve-year old boy" 4: super nerd status pending.
I also have a giant thirst for knowledge and am really passionate about people and kids with special needs. My passion tends to follow me around.
Also, I have a potty mouth and feel a little censored in my current guild. It's weird that I can't say "fuck, that bitch just ate my pistol like a BOSS!" in chat.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Yup, if it's a good fit, I shall represent or die!
How much time do you spend a week on Guild Wars 2 or other games?
At least 20 (on winter break right now) and during school, it will probably be around 5-10 (hopefully more, though!)
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I would like to explain why I am choosing to apply: (wall of text commence!)
I really worked my ass off to build the guild that I had/have in WoW. I understand the inner-workings of a guild and how much of a pain in the ass, but rewarding, it can be at times. I know how stressful it can be and will do everything in my power as a member to self-regulate, talk out differences and pretty much be awesome. I seriously have respect for GMs and officers of guilds of this caliber.
I am looking for something pretty specific. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, but it's hard to find a good guild, for me, personally. I am gay, I am out, and I am not your "average girl gamer". I honestly do not get offended easily, but it is important to me that you guys understand and reflect in your rules that use of the words like "retard" "faggot" and "rape" is not generally okay, and that, to me, is a huge huge plus. I like that you guys can joke around and give each other shit while still being respectful and tactful and have dignity.
Another thing I really love about you guys so far is the fact that you helped the Pink event. That not only speaks volumes for what a big guild or community should stand for and do, but it tells me you are people that give a shit about other people. With gaming, it's so easy to get lost in the avatars and the toons and the voices on chat. But with this community, it seems like you each know one another (or mostly) and I feel like I could be like "awwww, my cat is so cute, he is doing the commando crawl!" and you wouldn't just be like "uhhh..ok" but maybe even care and maybe that starts a cool conversation about who's cat is cuter...that's what I am looking for; people that give a shit about each other and are willing to meet half-way in building friendships. Games like GW2 are way more fun with friends.
I also like that you guys have podcasts and shit and useful things here on your site. I want to come here and see what's up, and that's really awesome that I already feel like I can ask questions and Tri1age will be like "if you need help, let me know" without knowing me at all. So, you're not douches and that's fucking awesome.
As silly as it may sound, I am 100% serious when I say I would be honored to see if we could become friends and have an epic adventure together in GW2 and wherever else.
Other stuff:
I am learning to play the guitar. I got a Squier Affinity Strat for 50 bucks at a pawn shop in awesome shape. I really love playing.
I love weightlifting and lifting things in general.
I did 6 years in the Air Force, 2 deployments. Glad to be done with that shit.
I really like reading and learning things.
I do some WW2 scale modeling stuff, which I really enjoy.
Have you finished all of the prerequisite requirements?
Yes (I read and replied to the rules, I have a minimum of 5 posts, I made sure those posts weren't just bullshit)
