Name
Rene

Age (must be 18+)
33 (Earlier, in chat, the much-younger-than-me Bruce called Raz “young” in an almost fatherly way. Boy does it feel awkward revealing my age now.)

Do you have any friends in the guild? If so, who?
Nope. But I've chatted with a few friendly people.

Main Character
I’m still on the fence regarding my main character’s class (or race, for that matter)... once an alt-aholic, always an alt-aholic,(

Character Name
TBA

Race
All of them!

Profession(Class)
I’m leaning towards a Mesmer or a Guardian, Sylvari and Charr respectively. Or maybe a human Necro. Or a Norn Ranger?

What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
I’ll be playing both PvE and WvW, but the latter only casually. I’m also an active LARP and P&P roleplayer (D&D, Rolemaster, Shadowrun, Burning Wheel), so perhaps I can fill a role in Arcanix’ RP faction.

Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I’ve played many online games since Ultima Online, though most of them couldn’t hold my interest for more than a dozen hours.
I’ve spent the most time playing:
- Guild Wars; I bought it the day it was released and ended up playing it for 2,3k hours
- APB & APB:R; I spent around 600 hours playing both games, though a great chunk of that time went into creating and selling themes
- DayZ; I have a soft spot for this mod, I’ve probably played it for 100+ hours, and I’m looking forward to the standalone game

Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I’ve been a member (and guild leader) in both competitive and casual guilds.

I played PvP and GvG extensively in the early days of GW1, up until our guild found itself in top 10 territory. At that point I wasn’t able to keep up with our opponents’ level of skill anymore, nor did I have any fun playing in our increasingly competitive guild environment. Some of our guild’s more aggressive members were quick to find someone to blame when things went wrong, and that’s when I realized that, even if I enjoyed competitive PvP, I’d rather stick to being a casual player. I like winning, but more than that, I like having fun, sans drama, with the people whom I’m gaming with.

My guild/clan experiences thereafter were awesome though; I spent six years in a community of mature and friendly gamers who treated each other with the utmost respect, and I’ve met many wonderful people online over the past years - some of which I still keep in touch with, even years after we stopped gaming together.

How did you hear about the Guild?
I joined the AltTabMe forums about a year ago, back when KittyBurn’s APB:R streams were the sh*t (Remember the Memorial Day demolition derby? When one of the cars flipped straight up into the night sky and came down with an explosion? I can’t forget that moment, it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in APB!)

With the amount of fun I had watching the APB streams, I kept my eyes on the AltTabMe website after it was created, hoping Tristan would find another game to keep that American Stream going.
I considered applying for the guild a while ago, but I wanted to get a feel of the community-in-the-making first.

What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I’m usually quite active in forums, and I love to get to know the people that I game with.
In GW I spent most of my time helping other people out. I find the interaction with guildmates more rewarding than focusing on my own characters’ progress or going after achievements!

I also appreciate the guild’s creative side, i.e. making podcasts, machinima, role playing/fanfic, drawing, and I see potential that goes beyond a simple GW2 guild. I’d love to be a part of that!
Though still a beginner, I dabble in creating electronic music - perhaps that could be of use at some point.

I have a knack of becoming quite active in the guilds/communities that I join (from event planning to getting involved with the organizational structure); I’ve moderated the forums of a gaming community with 50k members (I can PM you details, if needed), and I was selected as one of the ten original Core Team members of the APB:R “test monkey” crew. I like to do my part to help make a guild/community a great place to be!

Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Yes, though I’d also be playing with friends outside of the guild from time to time.

Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I have a job that can be mentally exhausting sometimes (I work as a child and youth care worker), so I’m looking for a guild of relaxed people to have fun with.
I feel drawn to the family atmosphere of Arcanix (the lack thereof is the reason why I’ve decided to leave my prior community), and, quite frankly, I believe that the guild could benefit greatly from the presence of a German (we're known to be a merry folk, well-liked for our great sense of humor and our better-than-Belgian beer. Also, Sauerkraut and moon Nazis).
Oh, and I have a beard.

Thanks for reading!

Kinda hard to deny him when he's been around longer than us Zakis :p

But yeah, I've just been waiting for the app so I could simply type +1.
