Far Cry 3 - in depth

My first post, and it's in the wrong section... My apologies.

Additional apologies for the double-post.

:(

I am actually looking forward to this game. I played Elder Scrolls game for MANY hundreds of hours. I played Oblivion so much that i had to get a new disk because i fried the first one. Skyrim is still being put to good use, not so much now that i have Guild Wars 2.

This game will do good for many reasons. One being the open world. A lot of people who like to role-play or like running around doing whatever they want to and not feel held down by a storyline will like this play because you get to set the pace.

I like the fact that they have taken a look at different games and pulled them together for this one. Getting to the top of a cell tower to unlock more of the area, pulled that from Assassins Creed and a few other games. But to make a good game you have to broaden your knowledge and pull from all of the resources at their disposal.

Also, who doesnt like to run around shooting people?

Spoilers might be included. Beware

Alright, from the few hours i have played this game i am very happy in the way everything came together. This is 1st person and that won't change in any part of the game. This place is huge, i have already hang-glided twice, rode a jetski, drove a jeep and still only covered a few percentage of the map. The guns have some really good details to them, almost on rival with dedicated games like call of duty. There are some amazing mechanics in play with stalking a prey, hunting, killing your enemy and takedowns. I tried a recurve bow and the game doesn't give you any help with aiming. You pretty much have to go with instinct and previous knowledge on the weapon.

I don't know if I'd be able to get into it... I love Open world games like those that bethesda makes, but I've heard so many bad things about previous far cry's and have even tried one that I didn't see anything special for. I guess I'll just have to try it myself. Sounds pretty good on the bow bit.

It does have that Open world feel to it. You can go anywhere you want without having a boundary up telling you to stop. Red box for $2 is the best way to go if you want to test out a game before buying it. I feel i could really invest some time into this game. Its not just run and gun, you have to actually consider how much ammo you have and how many enemies you are about to take on and weight in some decisions on how to proceed.
