Internalizing Master Of Casual
Some of you know that my birthday was Friday and we got a Subaru the week before. If you have seen the Subaru commercials you know the wife gets the husband an easel to paint with.


I thought that was awesome and for my birthday my wife got me paint and an easel. I decided before going out and capturing the outside world i would practice my skills indoors. This is my first painting.

I am currently working on a second painting that is a little more difficult and notice that i have the artistic ability of a 7 year old. But nonetheless when i finish i will post it here.

Also you are 4 years older than me when it comes to painting!
 
Ah-ha! Baldoraxx the Internalizer found a way to externalize his feelings. Keep up the good work man.
 
I'm also reading Jia. Or J alpha A.

But hey I haven't painted since I was like 10 so nice on actually doing something.

I doubt I could even make that design with a paintbrush anymore.
 
Lol just realized what you guys were talking about. Sad to say its not JIA but J & A mine and my wifes initials
 
Good for you! Painting is a great way to express yourself and make unique things for the home and gifts.

Who knows? Maybe it will be worth something after you die.

That's the spirit, Baldo! All you lack is talent!

Seriously, though, I think you could have a legitimately good style in the works here. I've seen children's books with illustrations much worse than that. I think the story of a dragon with one stubby arm and one long, snakey arm could be very compelling.

It was meant to convey looking at one side of the dragon and only seeing part of the other arm=(

It's not a bad attempt at all. What can be helpful is to look at pictures as a reference. You aren't copying the picture, just getting an idea of form and scale.

This is a komodo dragon, a good reference for fantasy dragons. You can see the size difference between the front legs in the foreground and background aren't all that different. Making an elbow joint could also add realism, if you want to go that route.

I'm not a professional artist or art critic. At the end of the day, what matters is if your art makes you happy and allows you to express yourself.

A few weeks ago i guess. (So bad with time) I decided on my next project and i went ahead and sketched it out. Wala drumroll to flight of the bumble bee. I don't think i need to explain what it is i am going to be painting next.

The canvas is black and green. It arcs towards the top to split the different colors.

Hopefully i will get off my butt and paint this soon and update the post then
 
Weird, I actually just preordered the new zelda game for the 3DS; it's the first one I've actually bought in a while. You must be psychic.
 
That dragon's pretty cute. You're actually inspiring me to try out painting. I haven't touched paint in years.
These are pretty great. Can't wait to see our next one!

This made me think of Ingress Shaper Glyphs... <.<
