Hello All! The California Expedition has come to an end and the last major stop on the trip was of course, the biggest park on the west coast! The target this time around was Six Flags Magic Mountain! Joining me this time is a long time friend that I haven’t seen since I moved from California 10 years ago.
While we tried to get all rollercoasters without burning 120 bucks on the top tier fast passes, we only missed one of the 4 major coasters in the park, we were averaging 45- 90 minute waits, so the tier breakdown only contains what I actually rode. Including some of the ones I went on when I was a kid!
For the ones I missed yesterday, I will also have some details on them too! I didn't get as many photos in the park as I would've liked but luckily www.rcdb.com has that covered for us! Every ride will link out to the their database which has tons of awesome photos of every ride. And as with my last post, I have a few ride photos for your enjoyment!

Tier 4 Rides @ Six Flags Magic Mtn
X2 - This was the world’s first 4th dimensional rollercoaster, a 4th dimension coaster shares many similarities to a wing coaster like gate keeper from my previous post, but the added element is the seats actually move an flip around as the ride progresses.
Tatsu - A flying coaster, Flying coasters are a style of inverted coasters, but, you are lifted up against the track with you facing straight down, adding the illusion of flight, we did this at night which added even more to the ride!
Full Throttle - One of the more recent additions to the park, this rollercoaster boasts a launched system similar to maverick at Cedar Point but with an added element: The World’s Largest Loop @ 160 ft. We got into line literally 20 minutes before the park closed and they let us on, an epic way to end the night!
Goliath - This is by far one of the best hypercoasters I have every been on (Hypercoaster: Rollercoaster that exceeds 200 ft)
Tier 3 Rides @ Six Flags Magic Mtn
Superman, Escape from Krypton - One of 3 rides in the world that have 400 foot towers, this is a reverse freefall where you are launched up the tower, and plummet back down to earth. Rode in the front row. By riding this, I have been on all three coasters in the world that have 400 ft towers, and of course, I did this in the front row! The sun was setting at the time they launched us, adding to the experience!
Riddler’s Revenge - Stand up coaster, one of the smoothest I’ve ever been on
Scream!- Floorless Design! one of my favorite coaster designs
Tier 2 Rides @ Six Flags Magic Mtn
Apocalypse, the ride- a super rickety wooden coaster!
Viper - Viper is a classic, one of the first coasters in the world to introduce corkscrew inversions. It is very rough by today's standards, but still a fun ride.
Tier 1 Rides @ Six Flags Magic Mtn
Revolution (Rode 10 years ago) - This coaster was the first to have a vertical loop, I didn’t get to ride it on this run due to prioritizing the other big rides, but its a classic!
Gold Rusher (Rode 10 years ago) - A classic ride that I enjoyed as a kid, not the most thrilling ride, but still a great addition to Magic Mountain’s coasters
Ninja (Rode 10 years ago) - An inverted shuttle coaster that flies over the samurai summit at Magic Mountain!
Missed Rides
Batman: The Ride - Wait time: 2 hours+ - This ride has been duplicated many times over and in fact is the same one that is located at the Six Flags in New Jersey and in Georgia, so this was low on my priority list. However! Inverted, looping, twists and turns, a fun experience!
Green Lantern: First Flight- Wait time: 45 minutes - We opted to skip this as we wanted to hit the larger and more popular rides. I will get this one another day. The design of this ride is a called a Zac-Spin, which is contains many elements of the 4th dimensional coaster x2. I did hear through people at the park that its not necessarily the best ride and actually is quite painful. Once again, another time!
Twisted Colossus: Wait time: 2-3 hours - This ride is a wood steel hybrid and the result of the renovations done to the original colossus ride for the 2015 season. Originally a wooden racing coaster, the ride was converted (and I believe it caught on fire during the renovations) to a coaster with a steel track with wooden supports.
