Need advice on a new rig

Building your own is great when doing affordable systems. Just don't get fucked by a lightning storm with no warranty.

Wow! I did not expect to jump back on to so much advice! I have been contemplating building my own, but if I know anything about my technical skills and general luck when it comes to these things, im definitely gonna mess something up along the way. The comparison between price is also not a big difference between getting a custom built and building it urself on parts (Remember it's Australia), the only real difference was the 100 dollar assembling fee. Btw Brassius that build you found was absolutely perfect, almost matching what i was planning on building. Only problem is no Shipping to Australia and my Custom built PC here that basically has all the same components is an extra 200bucks.... Also Red Omen, your website is great also, talk about everything you need to know in one spot (and even im understanding it).. Thanks again guys for the advice
 
Just sent off my order should be planned perfectly that it arrives the day of my last exams, so pumped! Can barely afford BF4 and now im on pasta and rice for the next 5 weeks...
Totally worth it!.

Anyways thanks again everyone for the help! Ill catch you in BF4 oooooohhh so soon!
 
Hey just want to give you what I used when I built my first computer:


Also, don't worry when building it, but don't go too fast or try jamming stuff in. Computers have been made to be dummy proof to an extent, if something doesn't fit double check the manual or if it's the wrong connector. Trust me it isn't too big of a challenge, just do a little reading and watching. I was 13 when I built my first gaming rig, I was scared but I made sure I read and watched guides to help me. Good luck on the build though!

Hey everyone, all my parts finally arrived today. Spent a good 4 hours with a buddy today putting it together but as I knew there was gonna be something went wrong. Basically i get no beep from the mobo and nothing pops up on screen when its running. When i remove both sticks of RAM i get 3 pretty long beeps.. I hoping to god this only means that the RAM has something wrong, and not the MOBO..Does anybody have any advice on how i could find out before buying more sticks of RAM. Thanks guys!

What motherboard did you buy again

I got the ASRock Z87 Pro4, yeah ive checked the gpu and everything twice to make sure everything is slotting into place ive also checked that site, gave me a start but havent been able to do anything to fix it.
 
Try slotting only one piece of ram in a slot and see if it boots. Try every piece of ram in every slot that could narrow it down to either 1. bad piece of ram, 2. bad slot on mobo, or 3. ram sticks that don't work together.

That seemed to be the trick, called a guy a ran through all the steps one included by T1G just above (thanks btw) still had a problem but then I changed to the white dvi cable connector straight into the gpu and it seems to be working!! Installing windows now, and hopefully will have a running pc by tonight (Can I hear BF bender) haha.. Thanks again guys, ill be seeing you all too soon!

This happened to me before, this is why I thought of this problem. And this is the joy of owning a PC, you learn how to solve all the problems PCs cause :D
 
from my experience the company's that build computers for you gouge you on prices, while building a computer i find to be extremely fun and gratifying. it may just be me but i would never consider buying another pre-built desktop computer ever again. if you have any questions i would be glad to help you with your rig, just let me know.
