So will recent updates (nightmare mode raids, new events, new dungeons, etc) and a PvP/PvE update on the horizon (adding in 4v4 arenas, more raids, etc) I have been thinking of getting back into SWTOR. I know a lot of people felt they got burned by this game, but IMO its one of the best MMO's out at the moment.

Is anyone interested in possibly starting a TAB guild in SWTOR? If not, I already have my own guild with bank tabs onone of my alts (Prophecy of the Five server), as well as millions of credits to help get you guys started. We could always just join an already established guild as well. I have multiple level 55 toons and well lower level alts. Does anyone have any interest is raiding, pvp'ing or just straight up questing and leveling? Im looking to sink into an MMO to hold me over until Wildstar finally releases, which looks like it wont be till Q1 2014.

Ill link the patch notes page so you all can see what the game has been up to.

I definitely got burned by it. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it felt so restrictive to me. I haven't been back since the first 2 months or so. I'd consider jumping in for fun because its F2P, but I wouldn't dedicate much time to it.

After playing this game on release non stop. I am not going lie, it got boring really quick. However with its free to play launch, I decided to go back and have a look how the game was going, and hopefully get back into it. I lasted 4 hours, the game is still boring as before, and not only that the free to play restrictions are stupid. IMO this MMO is only good for its story. There is alot better MMO's out there at the moment.

I wouldn't even consider using their F2P option, sub all the way for me. You cant fully enjoy the game with the amount of restrictions (all unlockable via market) they impose. With 2.4 coming up soon they are removing the PvP restrictions from F2P players, so at least there is that.

oh god please don't spend money on this thing.

Funny I found this post, as I just started to F2P the game. I played a good while during the beta and quite enjoyed it, but never bought it. I heard a lot a lame stuff about the F2P limitations, I hope it doesn't kill the fun to much. If all goes well over the weekend, maybe I'll throw a bit a money for the subscription.

We. Shall. See.

You will be very upset if you spend money on this game.

Because the game failed in it's mission as an MMO. It is essentially a single player game with some multiplayer aspects tacked on. The in game community, from what I experienced, is trash and finding a decent, active guild is needle in the haystack material. I pre-ordered the collectors edition thinking it was going to be the best game ever and I don't think I even made it past three weeks post early access, I finished my class story and maxed my toon and then I was left with a whole whopping nada. The operations were lackluster and the PvP was god awful.

It just really didn't live up to it's potential, and I recently went back to see if it had gotten any better and it really hasn't. If anything it's gotten worse with all the restrictions and cartel coin unlocks. From what I've heard you can unlock all the supposedly "sub only" stuff by buying enough cartel coins. It's basically a repeat of WAR, and in a few months to a year it'll probably be just as dead. :/

I disagree, its a full fledged MMO. Its got questing, group quests, events, 4 man dungeons, 8/16 man raids, and instanced PvP. Everything any other MMO has. MMO communities in general are pretty trashy, that's nothing new. There are tons of active guilds on every server, from casual to PvP or PvE centric. The guild recruitment sub forums have tons of listings for recruitment. There wasn't much endgame at launch, true, but they've patched in a bunch of stuff since. I agree the F2P restrictions blow but Iv never found a F2P game Iv liked anyway. I just sub (crazy idea for an MMO) and get full unlocked access to the game.

Yes, but there is absolutely no need to group for ANY of those things save the operations. At level 21 I was able to solo (with the help of tanky kaliyo) all level appropriate quests and flashpoints on my sniper. As far as guilds I was on relatively recently, Jung Ma server I think, and I couldn't find a guild for the life of me.

Another one of my biggest gripes with the game is how positively lifeless the world feels. Everything is so static and unflinchingly sparse. It was like that at launch and it's still exactly the same. I tried really hard to like it, but it just didn't have anything special going for it.

Warhammer was a great game at launch, it didn't deliver everything it promised but it was loads of fun. It had solid, visceral combat and arguably the best PvP in any themepark MMO to date. EA got it's grubby hands on WAR and SWTOR and turned both into cash grabs after sacking the majority of both dev teams. I think WAR has like, one active developer now.

EDIT: Also, it's one thing to have all the staples of an MMO included and whole different thing to do them correctly.

I don't understand peoples big deal with spending money on MMOs. I look at it as simply entertainment value for your $ and honestly there isn't 1 single MMO ever that isn't worth a sub fee... Even a terrible one. $15 is such a miniscule amount of money if you look at any other single form of entertainment. I try to equate it to something like going out bowling or playing a round of golf. I can't do either of these for an afternoon and spend less. The worst that can happen is you play for an evening, learn the ropes, realize the game isn't for you and unsub. Nothing is lost really. Anyway, I've just never understood all the big deal about paying for games. It's a service or commodity. We consume it. Most of us far too much. =)

Quite a few people don't consider 15 bucks to be a "miniscule" amount of money. 15 bucks can feed me for a week, if I sub for a game and play the game for an evening and it's bad I'm out 15 dollars ~ a possible weeks worth of food. I don't have issues subbing for games if the game in question in fun, quite the opposite as I prefer the subscription based model to the F2P model.

In terms of entertainment though it is. Talking about feeding hungry people is a whole entirely different thing.

Ive got no problem, and would much rather play an MMO with a sub as long as its worth it. SWTOR was not...and I got burned big time. Collectors Edition and all. Its not so horrible because I am a huge Star Wars fanboi but I expected to play that game for years. When I got to max level on my Marauder and in the same night COMPLETELY SKIPPED heroic dungeons and completed a 1 1/2 of the 2 end game raids with mostly fresh 50s...I knew I wouldnt be playing much longer.

ouch, what was that $120-$150ish?

I think the problem here is that the players who spent a ton of cash on the collectors edition or even the regular edition + subs were expecting so much caused by hype. I totally understand that the game isn't the greatest to ever exist. But, the story is solid and the gameplay is fun(to me anyway). Coming from the guys who dumped lots of money I can understand the sour taste. But as someone that's going to throw a month's sub or 2 - to just enjoy the story. It's worth the money I think. /hug

Not only is there a need to group for most of those things, there's also a want depending on the type of player. Sometimes I like to solo que for PvP to get some quick matches in, other times I like to team up with buddies for a more organized and team experience. Level appropriate Heroic 4's must certainly have to be grouped for, Heroic 2's can sometimes be done solo with a companion. I call BS on soloing a flashpoint, Id love to see you solo Athiss (level 21) as a sniper with just your companion. The population and communities of the servers have seen a huge boost after they bit the bullet and consolidated their servers, plus F2P.

The world as they created it does feel static and lifeless in many places. There are many unclickable nameless NPC's either wandering around just just static rotating their animations. The lack of a day/night cycle also didn't help. They didn't really improve on it that much with the addition of Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

It comes down to people falling for the hype and the game not living up to it at launch. It was a huge lesson learned for many people. Many games were hyped and failed before this, but not on this level. I too spent 150 bucks on the CE and kicked myself in the ass afterwards. Somehow I feel that price point is going to start becoming normal. Unfortunately this has led to many people not even recognizing the additions and changes made to the game since then. It just goes to show you how important it is to get a proper and smooth launch. 2.4 is on the PTS now, a lot has changed from 1.0 to 2.3 and soon to be 2.4. The core of the game still remains. Excellent class stories, main planet story arcs and side quests, events with their own story arcs, decent original flashpoints with much improved ones patched in after 1.0, 8/16 operations with their own story arcs and multiple difficulty settings, multiple PvP warzone types and maps with more to come in 2.4 (4v4 arenas, new huttball map, etc) and a very much alive and functional economy via useful crafting with your companions.

All this being said, the point of this post was to find people that WANT to play it, not bash it or get into a debate of the validity of this game. I do love a debate though. :D

So if anyone IS interested in playing you can find me on Prophecy of the Five server, Empire side. I have a guild lined up for operations. They currently have all hard mode operations cleared (still run them to gear new recruits/alts) and are about to start progression Nightmare mode runs. Or we could start our own Operations team and progress from bottom up. SWTOR recently patched in a streaming installation service similar to how WoW does it for those who have to reinstall.

Introvenus - 55 Operative
Taprackbang - 55 Sniper
Skidboot - 50 Mercenary
Alysium - 31 Powertech

Looks like Bioware is finally releasing info about SWTOR's "SUPER SECRET SPACE PROJECT". Looks to be free, open world space flight with PvP?

If this is in fact PvP centric, and I hope it is, I seriously hope they leave any type of PvP upgrade (gear, mods, ship parts) OUT of it. Make it based PURELY on skill, that's real PvP.

It would also be great if they developed some PvE based scenarios around this system as well, perhaps with the use of our own personal ships. There I could see ship parts and such coming into play. Perhaps some kind of ship customization, skins, etc...

All in all I am super excited for this. Many of us have been asking for this since before the game went live. They said they were working on it and they told the truth. Well done Bioware. I wouldn't mind waiting for this to be a full blow expansion chock full of systems and features instead of 1 PvP map patched in. Think of all the possibilities! Free flight space combat, both PvP and PvE. Flashpoints and Operations based on this new system. It could be pretty amazing.
