It's definitely relevant.

Tanks also tend to have really high upkeep costs. More hits = more gear damage = higher repair costs. WoW eventually balanced that somewhat, but the cost of doing business was always higher on the tank. Couple that with paid respecs several times a week and you're farming for hours just to maintain.

Not sure if tanking but if I do it will probably be the unnanounced <redacted>!

Same. So far we got two range that can heal and two melee that can tank, so my guess there will be one new class that can tank. No idea what type of tanking, but that's for another time :).
I would try stalker i guess, because warrior just seem like the bog standard kind of tank (to mainstream xD).

I'm rolling heals, so from this perspective I'm very intrigued as to how tanks will be mitigating their damage and threat mechanics as to keep us healers lazy and not need to work as hard.

I agree to some degree with you Gyoin. I love pairing up with an over zealous tank because it keeps me on my toes and pushes my skills to the breaking points. You know gets the blood pumping and me yelling at my screen for the tank to take on more mobs and give me a challenge. -bruceno-

This is me all the way. One of my favorite passtimes was to run heroic dungeons and chain pull a TON of mobs. They'd all scream at me, but I held the aggro. It didn't overtax the healer either, just kept them busy. By the end, they'd all friend me and want to chain some runs.

Totally remember doing that. I loved doing heroics that way. Chain pull all day because as a shaman healer I could heal for practically forever. Deeps working on 3 mobs go ahead and pull the boss.....we got this.

I got one pocket healer. Still lookin for more!

Hopefully there is a Paladin-like class. A class that can heal himself (and others), can be played as melee, can tank and has a generally high DPS.
Back in the day when I played WoW I'd end up taking the roll of the healer, the tank and the DPS all at the same time. I kinda had to carry everyone and I didn't even mind, heck I even loved playing like that.
I'm hoping there's a class that fits that playstyle.

If I'm going to have to choose between DPS and Tank then I'll probably go Tank first then DPS. (melee tank that is, I like melee)

I won't bother just yet to check a lot of data about the classes as I don't want to get too excited, else I won't be able to sleep at all until the game comes out (wait... what if the game comes out? I don't think I'll sleep at all then!).

It's official- Raz wants to do All The Things. /allthethings

Part of me hopes that the roles are distinct enough that you either do one thing well, or everything subpar.

The paladin can work that way in D&D because of the extremely strict moral code they have to adhere to in the game. In video games however, it usually just comes off as OP cause there is no DM to restrict you from knowing about some crime or injustice and not doing anything about it immediately so that you fall from grace.

Personally, I want a Paladin like class, which seems to be the trend of everyones view in this thread, but hey lets be honest here, the Paladin in wow was by far the funniest class to play as you could be any role you wanted with a quick repec and a change of gear. Making the Paladin the ultimate diverse fighting class, unless you wanted to play a bunch of animals running around. :( [The Druid] I am really looking forward to something like that and I will be alittle disappointed if Wildstar doesn't have something like that. Nonetheless, I might end up going with the Warrior if all else fails. I'm a tank for life. Bring on the damage, cuz I can take it.
