Hello Alttabme =)
I've been following the Wildstar podcast for a while now and loving it. I actually just finished watching the latest on youtube. I had tried to join a while back but kept having problems getting registered.
Anyway, the reason I'm here is that I have grown to absolutely love the Wildstar show. I look forward to it every week, and so I started thinking why not join you guys here and get to know everyone further. Actually I really would like to join you guys in the Wildstar guild when the game goes live. I know I need to apply but since I'm here saying hello I thought it'd be best just to announce my intentions up front.
I love the personality of the guild as it's represented by what I would assume are leaders on the podcast from Tristan to Bruce, Damien, Mike, and John. Hope I didn't leave anyone out. =) But really, the more I think about it the more excited I get about the possibility of being able to join an amazing community of like minded gamers and jump into Wildstar in what I'm sure is a great group of players.
From what I can tell it just seems like a great fit. As for myself and gaming I would consider myself a bit on the serious side when it comes to gameplay itself. I want to be my best and play whatever class it may be to it's absolute maximum potential and be among the best at it. That aside though I enjoy gaming as a way to relax after my workday and for it to be a fun and enjoyable experience. So I'm not all super serious and uptight, I do like to joke around and have a good time and may enjoy a few beers while I'm at it. Otherwise, why play. Games are meant to be fun right? =)
Now back in the days of vanilla WoW I did the hardcore honor grind and did the 40 man raids and all that good stuff and I loved it. Then I was 24 and had minimal responsibility so I could sometimes manage to game for 12 hours a day. lol Now however, I'm 33, happily married and father of 3 kids. So things have changed in regards to my availability.
Gaming to me today is about what I can bring in terms of skill... I think of myself as casual hardcore. Casual in the sense that well I can't always schedule in every raid or rbg due to real life. Kids have baseball, cub scouts, gymnastics, and then I gotta keep the wife happy. lol Still I loooove to game and when I play I want to be as good or better than anyone around me. I do consider myself to be well above the average gamer when it comes to MMOs and I especially love to PvP.
Hope I'm not just rambling on but I did want to give an introduction that went a little beyond, "hi, I'm Rick" and let you guys know up front I would love to join the community as it prepares for Wildstar's release. Let me know whatever I can do or ask any questions that you need answered to increase my chances of applying successfully.
I will keep watching the show, and plan to make this forum part of my daily routine as I come home from work and check wildstar-central or wildstar-online for any new info. Really look forward to hearing from you guys and to know what you think.
Hope talking about my family doesn't scare people away thinking I only play 2 hours a week. I probably play more than I should admittedly but what can I say, I love gaming. lol On any given day I'm available usually from 3-10pm and sometimes stay up later even though I go to work at 4am daily. Anyway, I'm rambling again.
Look forward to hearing from the community. -Rick

Felt like I should add. As for my gameplay style. I tend to gravitate toward more of a ranged caster/support style of gameplay. I prefer to have a broader view of the battlefield, especially talking about PvP. I am a very very support minded player. I don't care about damage charts, I care about casting that perfect CC or root on the would be attacker of some healer out on my peripherals. This is what I get excited about and what is fun for me. Yeah doing damage and blowing people up can be a lot of fun but I always seem to end up prioritizing my support over my dps no matter what class or spec I may be playing.
As for Wildstar I'm leaning toward Spellslinger just because so far they seem like they will have the closest feel to a WoW Mage which I really love all their support with tons of CC options. Also I played Holy Paladin through vanilla and bc so I will love the option to spec into healing as well on the same class. Seems like the perfect fit for me with what we know of the classes so far. I will probably also try out Esper to see how they feel compared to Spellslinger and well I will most likely play every class as an alt to maybe lvl 20ish just because I love to get my hands on their gameplay mechanics to better prepare for what one may do to me in PvP. Best way to counter a class is to have played it yourself and better understand what they may be trying to setup.
