Do you have any friends in the guild? If so, who?
No sir!
Main Character Name
Jenpez
Race
Norn
Profession(Class)
Mesmer
What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
I am a PvE kinda guy. That has been my main focus all throughout my time playing MMORPGs. I LOVED the dungeon dynamics in WoW and sometimes raids. I didn't get to participate in raids much because I got interested in them towards the end of my playtime on that game.
However, WvW has perked my interest in the world of PvP. I was never that great at PvP..and that is probably because I never took the time to practice. But I have gotten better slowly with some practicing on WoW and I eventually just came to like it okay. I would like to give that aspect of gaming another shot, because I know if I find my niche I would LOVE it. And it also seems to help me out in the PvE aspects of games, because it's probably the best place to experiment with all sorts of specs..especially in a game like GW2!
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I have played World of Warcraft from the end of Vanilla to the beginning of Cata. I started again on Mists, but Guild Wars 2 has suddenly consumed all my time playing that game...so I guess it's been about 4 years, with a 2 year break in between. I played Rift for about 3 months, The Old Republic for another 3 months, LotR for 1, Guild Wars for another 3, and GW2 for about a month on and off. Most of my experience definitely comes from WoW..I know. Original!
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I was! There were a few in my four years on WoW that I cycled through. One of them I discovered through a podcast (which sadly I cannot remember the name of now) and it was the most amazing experience ever. I'd have to say that was one of the most fun times I've ever had on any online game ever. When you actually play constantly with a great community that just clicks well with you, it can't get any better. It actually MAKES you want to participate. They even made fishing fun! We would go for hours on fishing trips and sell a shit ton on the auction house to make bank..good times!
There was also about a 6 month period awhile after that where me and my 2 best friends managed a guild ourselves of about 100 people. We had about 10-15 very active members that were great and contributed to our little grassroots effort. We set up a vent and we were on there constantly (especially since it was billed to my card..no way was I letting people ignore that chatroom!) It was a great experience to have to see the other side of things. Before, I just actively participated in the events that my guildies created..Now I had to come up with the events, the planning, and the organization of the entire guild. Because of how small we were, we got close, but we didn't have very many events. We probably did a few combined efforts with other guilds for a few city raids. I remember once we all drank a potion and ran around Orgrimmar as random characters once and had some fun with that. But we did nothing as creative as this guild's events that I have seen!
How did you hear about the Guild?
When I started getting into Guild Wars 2 again, I wanted to find a fun podcast that I could listen to on my constant airplane flights I've been taking over this break. Turns out I ran into you guys on youtube, and it was love at first sight! I was very entertained by the podcasts, and so I thought I'd check out what this "alttabme" thing was, and was ecstatic to find out about this guild!
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I am CHATTY when I get on skype/vent or you name it! However, when i meet new people online, I tend to get kinda reserved and shy for a bit before I start to know most of the "regulars". Kinda like the feeling you get when you are the new kid at school, and you think everyone is looking at you funny, and you keep telling yourself that you need to put yourself out there, don't be shy, and you chicken out because you are afraid that you will intervene on everyone's conversations or become the third wheel in some awkward friendship...Was that anyone else in high school? Just me..? Well yeah. Kinda like that. lol. Anyways. I am chatty when you get to know me.
I LOVE helping other people too. If anyone needs help, I would port on over and do what needs to be done if I am level appropriate! Right now I'm a bit shy of 80..and by a bit shy I mean a lot. But I'm catching up! I guess I can contribute more on the skill part when I reach a higher level. As for funny..I'd like to think I'm funny! But I guess that can be debatable.
I would like to say that my friends tell me that I am one of the nicest people they know (hoping no one takes this as bragging lol). To me, it's almost a flaw, because I feel like I can get taken advantage of easily..but maybe that just shows how much I like to help. You decide!
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Most definitely!
How much time do you spend a week on Guild Wars 2 or other games?
Well over my winter break that I am currently on, I have spent about 2-4 hours playing a day. But I expect that to drop to around a few hours on the weekday and a few hours per day on the weekends.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I am a Sophomore at the University of Colorado at Boulder, double majoring in Astrophysics and Biochemistry with a minor in Atmospheric Sciences. So as you can see, I sometimes get pretty busy, especially around midterms and finals! There might be a few days where you would not see me online at all because of this, and in advance if you accept me, I apologize for that.
I love to sing. I did musical theatre and acting all through middle school and high school, and got pretty good at both acting and singing. Dancing maybe not so much..but I was alright. I almost decided to major in that..but then I looked up, fell in love with space, and well..the rest is history!
I also LOVE to ski, play board games, watch a BUNCH of TV shows, and socialize/party.
Also, the name Jenpez...Quite a story behind this and me playing female characters.
So when I started playing World of Warcraft, I wanted to create a mage character to grind with my friend. I had NO ideas for names, and at the time I was watching the TV show Will and Grace. Well, Jennifer Lopez (as herself) was the guest star of this crazy episode, where Karen invites J-Lo to her wedding day..something along those lines. Anyways, she was gossiping in the bathroom about how she knew Jennifer Lopez so well that she had her own nickname for her. Wanna know what it was? You guessed it. Jenpez. I thought it was the funniest scene ever, and it was the coolest name I could think of, so it stuck. So basically, my character is named after Jennifer Lopez.
Eventually she became my main after I decided that mages were way cooler than silly hunters. Throughout my time playing WoW, I would meet really chill people, talk to them for a bit, decide to vent with them after awhile, and they would suddenly realize I was a guy. For the ones who did stick around to become my friends in the game (some actually though I was a girl and probably wanted to talk for other reasons), we had interesting conversations about the gender confusion. Because I played a girl, sometimes people would just assume that I am a girl in real life..after this happened the first time, I started realizing that half of my friends in the game probably thought I was a girl, because I didn't mention much about my real life. So I tried to make an effort to let people know as soon as possible I was a guy.
Sometimes my newer friends would just assume I was a girl and I would be afraid they would not like me anymore if I told them I was a guy...especially my guy friends. I thought they would get creeped out and run away. So when I finally told my closest friends, much to my surprise, they didn't care at all. It felt great! Now this might have all seemed like a stupid rant..but it's relevant because it in fact helped me with a difficult time in my life in the beginning years of high school.
I don't want to get into my whole life story, but basically this moment in the game helped me come out of the closet in 9th-10th grade. I figured that if people didn't care if I was a girl or a guy in the game, why would my friends in real life care if I liked girls or guys? Turns out none of them did. Normally, I don't like to tell people about this (or care to, because I don't like to flaunt this stuff around), but it seemed appropriate to mention, so there is no awkward questions or people being too afraid to ask later on. Yes, I'm a guy. And yes, I'm gay.
Oh, also, don't think that I am super senstive of my feelings because I am nice. All of that audition training for acting in high school and parts of college built a thick skin around me from critiques. Although I can be quite gullible!
So there! Hope I didn't bore anybody, and thanks for letting me apply!
Have you finished all of the prerequisite requirements?
Yes (I read and replied to the rules, I have a minimum of 5 posts, I made sure those posts weren't just bullshit)
