GW2 First Engineer Nerf: Juggernaut Trait

In the patch today, Juggernaut no longer grants stability - but also no longer slows you by 50%. +200 toughness remains the same. Instead you get stacks of might every 3s, maxing at 6-7 stacks.

It's in interesting trait, I'll no longer be tanking dungeons any more :(

I beg to differ. Stability is king in PvP, and this was amazing for rezzing and finishing and everything under the sun. Unlike PvE, you don't really stay in any kit all too long anyway, you just pop whatever skill you need from it and exit back out. It's what I do, anyway. Therefore the 50% slower movement speed didn't really matter all that much, not compared to getting free stability whenever you wanted.

Run up to the downed guy, enter FT, Stomp like a boss.
Run up to a friendly, enter FT, Blast them all away, Rez like a champ.
See a 100B Warrior while out of Stamina, enter FT, eat the Bull's Charge, blast him away as he wonders why you aren't ass-first on the ground.

Now you get some Might, if you stay in the kit long enough. Massive nerf. For PvE Dungeons and sPvP.

The worst part is that it's a U-turn in functionality. Stability, obviously, was a defensive buff. It's now replaced with might...but you never really wanted deal damage with that trait in the first place. Stability was a dealbreaker for frontline tanking of endgame PvE content...now I just can't go there anymore.

I only use the current version for running through Orr now...

Stability was basically all it had going for it in PvE, as you lose your weapon stats when using a kit so any Toughness on your gun is lost, turning the +200 Toughness into +50 or so if you have a defensive Rifle or Pistols. Now all it has going for it is Might, a boon that's so common it's usually just a side-effect of a skill.

@Daniel: and this is why it's a good change. Having on-call Stability, paired with the Engineer's potential ridiculous ease to take hits makes the trait completely retarded and imbalanced. Flamethrower could knock back/blind + grant stability at once, and that's not even taking into account effects granted by other sources (Elixir B) or the Elixir R's insta-revive.

I just think the Flamethrower, with this specific trait, was an unavoidable part of any optimally built Engineer. And that sucked major time, as far as I'm concerned.

Well sure, in that sense it is a positive change for PvP as a whole, OP stuff has to get nerfed to keep the format healthy. But from my selfish perspective, it sucks majorly and makes that trait entirely useless, especially for a Grandmaster Tier trait.

I would have liked to see stability kept in, but instead of having it activated all the time, have it trigger after being hit with an effect it would block, then have it last temporarily. That way it wouldn't be totally broken.

Given that they have disposed of Guardian elite stability, I'd say there's an underlying problem with PvP stability. All we're left with is Elixir X...
